Thank you to the 81 entrants in the Fun Run (and Sally the dog) – you were all wonderful, and helped to make the inaugural ‘Run The Walks’ really special!

Peter Elsdon-Dean managed to run 9 laps, but equally impressive were the younger children, who kept on running longer than anyone had expected. The runners ranged in age from children being pushed round in a buggy and little 3-year-olds running by themselves all the way through to adults.

The Fun Run Team Challenge proved a huge success with children running from 4 schools. We counted the top 6 scores for each team; the winning team was All Saints Arrows (38 laps), closely followed by Paddocks Panthers (35 laps) and Ditton Lodge (34 laps).

The All Saints Jockeys team lent colour and humour to the occasion, dressed in racing silks as they pushed and pulled their painted horse (from last year’s ‘Horse About Newmarket’ event) 4 times round Severals.

2012 Harry Beamond (aged 3) and Terry WaiteTerry Waite (President and Patron of Newmarket Open Door) not only to started the race off, but also took the time to talk to everyone he met, children and adults alike. All the children who took part in the race received a medal from him (pictured Harry Beamond, age 3).
